Jalla, Girls!
Annalisa Vozza
Short Documentary | Italy | 2009 | 30 min.

Honey and Jackline are two young women from Bethlehem determined to follow their dream: football. In Palestine, football played by young women raises many questions. The film hinges on the concept of boundary, a physical but also mental line that separates one country from another, a team from a team. Whether it is gender division, religious constraints, political and geographical demarcations, or simply crossing into the end zone, the boundary is a constant obstacle and challenge that these players must face - inside and outside their community - in a land where dreams are as fragile as peace.
